Josique Lynch is the Director of Joondalup Early Learning Centre, Western Australia
Josique is an advocate for the well-being of children and takes a pro-active approach to meeting the needs of the children in her centre. Realising that morning dropoff can be a highly stressful time for parents and children, she developed the motto, “Aim for Calm” and made innovative changes to the daily routine, physical environment and culture of the centre creating a welcoming engaging learning environment and instilling a sense of belonging for children and their families.
Influenced by the EYLF, Erikson, Montessori & Reggio Emilia the centre has adopted a free flowing curriculum and has developed a community of learners.
Josique has recently co-authored a book about transforming learning environments entitled ‘Environments for Today and Tomorrow’.
Calling herself a “PD Junky” Josique mentors other Educators, both within her centre and externally, to become leaders and encourages them to ‘be their best’ and to continue learning.
Josique plans to continue learning and extending her centre’s focus upon the ‘Go Slow & Minimise Stress' philosophy, focussing upon children’s wellbeing and resilience to bring mindfulness practices into all aspects of the program. She also hopes that the acknowledgement of the importance of the Early Years as a critical foundation for learning will become more widespread.
As the National Winner of the Nestle NAN Toddler Early Childhood Director of the Year award, Josique receives a $5000 Professional Development grant from Nestle Infant Nutrition plus $4000 in training from RTO One World for Children.
